This very accurate. Until recently my own mind's image of myself was stuck somewhere in my 20's and I just recently realized that I'm 40, a parent, young people call me sir without irony, and it's kind of freaking me out man.
Getting older. So far, it's still much better than the alternative, but you're right about the uncanniness of it. At 57, don't feel much different than I did 10, or even 15 years ago, but I do remember the world—and my life—being very different. The sun is still bright afternoon, but the shadows are stretching.
